Hanna Assouline is a filmmaker, author, and pacifist and anti-racist activist, as well as the founder of the association Les Guerrières de la Paix (“The Women Warriors for Peace”).A Franco-Moroccan Sephardic Jew, she has worked for many years to foster dialogue between Jewish and Muslim communities and actively fights against racism and antisemitism—both on the ground and through her films.Her first documentary, Les Guerrières de la Paix, amplifies the voices of Israeli and Palestinian women united in their commitment to peace and justice. The film serves both as a manifesto and as the founding act of the eponymous movement, which has since become a major force.Two years later, she directed À notre tour (“Our Turn”), a documentary road movie following a group of young Jews and Arabs determined to overcome divisions. Together, they travel across France to rekindle dialogue on the most sensitive topics, countering sterile oppositions.Hanna is active on all fronts, striving to make heard a unifying voice—a third narrative that offers hope for the future amid the noise. She continues to amplify the voices of pacifist activists working to resolve conflicts and build peace.In 2024, she co-directed Résister pour la Paix (“Resist for Peace”) with Sonia Terrab, a powerful film about the commitment of Israeli and Palestinian activists since October 7, and published Guerrière de la Paix (“Warrior for Peace”) with Éditions du Seuil.Her movement Les Guerrières de la Paix has been nominated for the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize.
