Description

Sara is Chief Executive of ODI Global and a leading voice in peacebuilding, humanitarian action and development finance. Appointed by the UN Secretary-General as an Independent Eminent Person for the 2025 peacebuilding architecture review, she previously chaired the UN Peacebuilding Fund’s Advisory Group and has played senior roles in global humanitarian and resilience initiatives, including with the World Economic Forum. Sara has led high-profile UN responses, notably in Sudan’s Nuba Mountains, and engaged in peace processes across Africa. She serves on multiple international boards, is Managing Editor of Disasters journal, and hosts ODI’s flagship podcast Think Change. Recognised with a CMG for services to peacebuilding and international development, she combines practical experience in conflict settings with academic expertise, holding a doctorate in Politics and International Studies. With her deep insight into the intersections of finance, conflict and resilience, Sara brings a unique perspective on the future of development finance.
