Mr. Baker leads Helen Keller’s efforts to support the world’s most vulnerable communities through strengthening health and food systems using proven solutions that are feasible, scalable, and equitable. Prior to re-joining Helen Keller, was the inaugural Chief Nutritionist at USAID and first Director of Nutrition at the Gates Foundation. More than 35 years of experience in global public health and nutrition, including 19 years at Helen Keller Intl as country director in Bangladesh and Vice-President for Africa, and 30 years living in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. He served for over eight years on the Technical Review Panel for The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Malaria and Tuberculosis, and was chair until November 2014. He is the chair of the Micronutrient Forum Board of Directors and was co-chair of the Stakeholder Group for the Global Nutrition Report. He was the Chair of the Paris Peace Forum’s Independent Expert Panel to inform the Paris Nutrition for Growth Summit and served on the International Advisory Group of the Summit. He is based in Dakar, Senegal.
