Description
Dr. Leonard Mizzi is Head of Unit at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for International Partnerships, leading on Sustainable Agri-Food Systems and Fisheries since 2017. Previously, he served ten years at DG Agriculture and Rural Development, overseeing agri-trade, development, and interinstitutional relations. He holds degrees from the University of Malta (BA Hons), CIHEAM-Montpellier (MSc), and the University of Reading (PhD in Agricultural Economics). Formerly Director of the Malta Business Bureau in Brussels, he has extensive experience in public administration and the private sector in Malta. A frequent lecturer at the College of Europe and other universities, his expertise covers global food security governance, agriculture, and food and nutrition security in the Mediterranean and Sub-Saharan Africa.
