Description

Philippe Varin was elected Chair of the International Chamber of Commerce in June 2024. He served on its executive board since 2018 and as First Vice-Chair from 2022 to 2024. His career began at Pechiney in 1978, later becoming EVP for Aluminium. He led Corus as CEO, overseeing its acquisition by Tata in 2007. He then chaired PSA Peugeot Citroën, Areva, and Orano. In 2020, he became Chairman of Suez, resisting Veolia’s bid until stepping down in 2022. Varin also chaired France Industrie and served on Saint-Gobain’s board. He leads the World Materials Forum and advises on critical raw materials. A graduate of École Polytechnique and Mines, he holds honours in France and the UK.
