Professor Yael Berda is a sociologist at Hebrew University and Visiting Scholar at the Middle East Initiative, Harvard Kennedy School. She is Co-Chair of the Board of A Land for All, a joint Palestinian–Israeli movement for confederation and equal sovereignty. A former human rights lawyer and community organizer, Berda is deeply engaged in political debate and grassroots movements for justice, equality, and shared futures in Israel/Palestine. She has spoken in diverse public forums—from local initiatives to international assemblies, including at the United Nations. Her research focuses on bureaucracy, colonial legacies, authoritarianism, and regimes of citizenship and mobility. She holds a PhD in sociology from Princeton University and a law degree from Hebrew University. She is the author of three books, including Living Emergency and Colonial Bureaucracy and Contemporary Citizenship.
