Christophe Prazuck is the Director of the Ocean Institute of the Sorbonne University Alliance, Europe’s leading marine university. There he develops interdisciplinary research and training projects that bring together stakeholders from the maritime world and the academic community.He notably leads the Bougainville project, which combines the expertise of the French Navy with that of researchers and students specializing in microplankton.Thanks to numerous observations carried out in regions rarely surveyed by scientific vessels, Bougainville will offer a unique database covering the Indian and Pacific Oceans. The project relies on innovative, simple and robust biological and physico-chemical sensors developed by the association Plankton Planet.He served as a naval officer for 40 years and commanded the French Navy from 2016 to 2020.
