Bienfait Mugenza turns challenges into opportunities for peace and sustainable development. He is the Founder of Congo Peace Academy and Congo Dynamic Initiatives, two organizations that empower young people and women on Idjwi Island and across eastern DRC through education, entrepreneurship, conflict resolution, and community-led action. A MasterCard Foundation Scholar, he earned a BA in Political Science from the University of Rochester, where he began designing innovative projects linking peacebuilding and economic resilience. His flagship initiative, Agri Peace Idjwi, combines conservation agriculture, food security, and conflict transformation to reduce tensions and strengthen community livelihoods. Selected among the 30 global solutions showcased at the Paris Peace Forum 2025, Bienfait’s work demonstrates how local leadership, combined with global partnerships, can foster stability, prosperity, and lasting peace in the Great Lakes region.
