More than three years into Russia’s full-scale invasion, the war in Ukraine continues to pose one of the gravest threats to international peace and security. Despite promises by U.S. President Donald Trump that peace could be made within days, the conflict has intensified on the battlefield and diplomatic efforts have so far failed to produce a ceasefire agreement and a clear strategy for a sustainable and just peace that protect Ukraine’s sovereignty and security, allow Ukrainians to return home and the economy to recover. It is now clear that Europeans will need to step up, increase military support to Ukraine for months to come, and most importantly, prepare to offer security guarantees to Ukraine if a peace deal is eventually made.This session will bring together a diverse panel of leaders and experts to examine Europe’s efforts to support Ukraine’s defense, and to reflect on efforts the prospects for ending the war, take stock of the various scenarios for the peace process, discuss the regional security architecture and the long-term scenarios for Ukraine. It will in particular look at the role international actors and in particular the European community can play in providing credible security guarantees.
