Description

The Ministerial Conference in Support of Peace and Prosperity in the Great Lakes Region will be held in Paris on October 30. It will include a session dedicated to regional economic integration, which will be hosted by the Paris Peace Forum. This session will bring together institutional actors, donors, international organizations, and representatives of the private sector. It will focus on the contribution that deeper economic integration between countries in the region can make as a factor for peace and prosperity in the Great Lakes region. The major economic challenges facing the Great Lakes region will be highlighted through two themes: connectivity and prosperity in the Great Lakes region. The mobilization of international public and private funding and a multi-country approach to support concrete projects will be discussed. Finally, the modalities for following up on these proposals will be discussed.
