The Case for Putting Children First
Oct 30, 2025 — 02:15 pm - 3:00 PMScène B - Musée de l'Homme

Description
In a challenging geopolitical context where budgets for the international development sector have been declining for many years, children and mothers are at increased risk. For the first time in decades, rates of child and maternal mortality are increasing, and these populations also face the consequences of greater conflict, climate change, and migration, putting them at greater risk of malnutrition, disrupted learning, and unequal access to essential services. While international collaboration on the climate and development agendas is faltering, the world needs to prepare for what comes next after the SDGs expire in 2030 and redesign funding strategies around a priority: Children represent one of the most effective and most unifying investments for long-term global stability and prosperity. This high-level panel discussion will feature representatives from governments, donors, and implementing organizations who will discuss innovative financing mechanisms and highlight successful case studies from various countries across the Global North and the Global South.
